Some miscellaneous notes:
I, Michael Paoli, put together the playlist.
At the
Celebration of Chantelle Cooper's life event,
by request from Kevin, I added, and started off with these
two that are the first two on the list:
Judee Sill - "The Kiss"*
James Blunt - "You're Beautiful"*
I'd earlier started with a playlist I had, intended for similar occasion,
but not specifically for Chantelle. I figured it was at least
a "good enough" start, and I further developed it from there.
I believe I added the Kate Bush piece to the earlier list.
I knew at least much earlier (1991),
Chantelle quite liked Kate Bush's music - and in fact introduced
me to Kate Bush's music.
I never got to introduce Chantelle to Eivør's music, but I think
she would've liked at least much of it. Among other talents,
Eivør also has a highly capable, versatile, and impressive voice.
Eivør in fact did a cover version of Kate Bush's
"Hounds of Love":
Eivør - "Hounds of Love"*
an amazingly impressive version -
especially compared to Kate Bush's singing of same:
Kate Bush - "Hounds of Love"*
The vocals are done so well and impressively, it can be rather
challenging to tell them apart by the vocals alone - not
even sure which version I prefer between the two they're
so close, and both voices so impressive and capable. In
any case, I picked not that cover version that Eivør had done,
but rather another work of Eivør's that I thought would
be quite fitting.
Another of Eivør's that I considered, but didn't include:
Eivør - "True Love"*
I know Chantelle had also been quite involved with Choral music,
including, e.g., being in the
San Francisco Choral Society,
and attended many
San Francisco Opera
and
San Francisco Symphony
events.
I think she also would have liked such music included, but I really
wasn't sure what specific pieces.
I think I included at least
some piece(s) that may have captured at least part of that mood.
Didn't actually play:
Jim Croce - "Time in a Bottle"
at the event. It got mentioned after I'd already closed up and put
aside what I was using to play the playlist. But bit later it
was brought up in conversation that she probably would've
also wanted that Jim Croce's Time in a Bottle.
Chantelle also very much appreciated many wondrous things,
and enjoyed fun and humor too.
So I think the list covers much - more serious and somber,
emotions and thoughts likely she and/or others thinking of her felt or were feeling,
and a bit of levity too.
